Mela — help and contact
Mela is the Maltese flashcard app for people visiting Malta and people living in it, on iPhone and Android. If something is wrong — or the Maltese is wrong — write to us.
A person reads every message. You will usually hear back within two working days, in English or in Maltese.
Helpful in a bug report: your phone model, the app version from the bottom of the Me tab, and what you were doing at the time.
Questions
The six we are asked most.
I got a new phone and my progress is gone.
It is, and we cannot get it back. Progress lives only on the device, because Mela has no account — there is nothing stored on our side to restore from. Your purchases are recoverable: open the Me tab and choose Restore purchases.
How do I restore what I bought?
Me tab → Restore purchases, signed in to the same App Store or Google Play account you bought with. Packs and an active subscription come back within a few seconds. If they do not, check which store account the device is signed in to, then write to us.
How do I cancel my subscription?
In your App Store or Google Play settings, not in the app — the store owns the billing and we cannot cancel it for you. Access runs to the end of the period you have already paid for, and packs you bought outright stay unlocked afterwards.
I found a mistake in the Maltese.
Tell us the pack, the card and what it should say. Corrections are reviewed with a native speaker and ship in the next update. This is the mail we most like getting.
How do I turn off notifications?
In the Me tab, or in your phone’s notification settings. There are at most two a day — your reminder, and a note if a streak is about to end — and both are scheduled by your own phone. Mela has no push server.
How do I turn off anonymous usage data?
One toggle in the Me tab. It stops the anonymous session counts and the crash reports together; nothing else about the app changes. The privacy policy lists exactly what those counts contain.
Mela is published by CB Scala, Malta. It is a study aid for Maltese vocabulary — ten cards a session, on the phone, with no account.
